Students helped with transition to uni

Students preparing to enrole on foundation degree courses have been given a head start thanks to the new Transition to Harper Adams Conference.

The two-day event is aimed at those with vocational backgrounds, having completed either portfolio or Diploma courses, or having been out of education for a while.

Academic Guidance and Development Tutor, Val Senior, said: “Moving to university from school, college or work often throws up challenges.

“Students will find the need to adapt to different ways of studying, as academic work brings a new set of demands.

“This conference has been organised to give those from vocational backgrounds a flying start ahead of students from traditional academic backgrounds.”

Students came from far and wide for the conference, which took place earlier this week. They took part in a range of activities, from team building tasks to more academically-orientated exercises.
