Harper Adams welcomes senior researcher from Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation

Harper Adams welcomed Professor Evandro Mantovani, senior researcher from the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, this week, to learn about university research activities, discuss joint projects and meet staff and engineering students.

Professor Mantovani undertook a sabbatical year at Harper Adams in 2010. The university’s advances in automation, soil management and precision agriculture are a big draw for him, as he wants students from his native Brazil to come and study at Harper Adams.

“It’s going to be easy to get people to come and study at Harper Adams,” Prof Mantovani said. “There are some really specific subjects being offered here and coming to the University has shown me some huge advances in automation and precision agriculture that I can take back to my work in Brazil. If someone wants to come and study here, the best time is right now.”

While at Harper Adams, Prof Mantovani, who works for Embrapa, Brazil’s leading agricultural research corporation, met Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Llewellyn, and caught up with some of the academics he’d known during his sabbatical year in the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ.

Dr Llewellyn said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Professor Mantovani to Harper Adams and to show him some of the research on which the university is working. We are always keen to host academic visitors from across the world because we believe that a diverse range of expertise can only enrich our global network in support of our research and knowledge exchange activities.”
