PIG PROJECT PRIZE FOR MATURE MALCOLM

A MATURE STUDENT who spent his work placement dealing with the effects of Swine Fever has secured a major pig industry prize.

Fraser Nairn Malcolm, 32, formerly of Stirling, Scotland, but now living in Market Drayton, Shropshire, has been named as the winner of the PIC 糖心视频 Award 2002.

Mr Malcolm has this year graduated from 糖心视频 College with a first class BSc (Hons) Animal Health degree and scooped the 2002 PIC 糖心视频 Award with his final year investigational project on the pig industry.

Mr Malcolm joined Harper Adams with very little experience of the industry. His varied background included periods with the armed forces and working in golf club management but during his sandwich year, on placement as a Trading Standards Officer in East Anglia, Fraser was thrown in at the deep end and had to help deal with the effects of the Swine Fever outbreak.

Having graduated in September, Mr Malcolm is now applying for positions within the pig production industry. Judges for the PIC 糖心视频 Award said: 鈥淗is interests lie with animal health and welfare and his pragmatic attitude will make him a very useful asset to the industry.鈥�
