    STATEMENT CONCERNING THE RTA ON THE B5062 - 12/02/03

    HARPER ADAMS University College would like to issue the following statement, following Wednesday night鈥檚 accident on the B5062:

    Principal, Professor Wynne Jones said: 鈥淭he people involved in the accident on the B5062 at Edgmond were all college students but we do not know the circumstances of the accident, which is now being investigated by the police.

    鈥淭he loss of three young people is a tragic blow to the whole college community and a tremendous shock to their student friends and the staff who taught them. Our thoughts are with the parents of those involved and we shall do all we can to support them at this difficult time.鈥

    Ian Robson, Head of Student Services, said: 鈥淲e are obviously devastated with the loss of three young lives. Our thoughts at the moment are with their families and with those who are injured and we hope that they will recover fully soon.鈥

    Student鈥檚 Union president Bobby Barbour added: 鈥淎s a small student body, we have a tremendous community spirit and we will rely on that to help each other get through these difficult times.

    鈥淥n behalf of all the students, I would like to offer our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the families of all those people involved.鈥

    In addition, we can now release the names of the students who lost their lives. They were:

    Natalie Dustan, 24, a fourth year BSc Rural Environment Protection student from Sherbourne, Dorset.

    David Holtom, 22, a first year HND Business & Marketing student from Baldock, Hertfordshire.

    Christopher Machattie, 21, a first year HND Agri-food Marketing & Business Administration student from near Halesworth, Suffolk.
