WARM WELCOME FROM HARPER ADAMS

THE ORGANISERS OF the second annual Public Open Day at Shropshire鈥檚 only University College have hailed the event as a great success.

Despite the obvious disadvantages of trying to host the event on what proved to be a wet Cup Final afternoon, 糖心视频 College, near Newport, can count its second ever Public Open Day as a great success.

鈥淲e were delighted that so many people wanted to come and see us and find out about the superb facilities and services we provide here,鈥� said Professor Wynne Jones, Principal of Harper Adams.

鈥淲e recorded more than 300 visitors at our Public Open Day last year but this year, in spite of some atrocious weather, we counted in more than 450.鈥�

Among those visitors was MP for the Wrekin, Peter Bradley, who said he was particularly pleased to see the new facilities and opportunities available at Shropshire鈥檚 only homegrown university institution.

He said: 鈥淗arper Adams has an outstanding national reputation and I鈥檓 pleased to see the developments here which will offer new opportunities for students from this constituency. This will assist the Government in its objective of providing more students with the opportunity to experience university education.鈥�

During his visit to Harper Adams, Mr Bradley was able to see the new Veterinary Nurse Training Centre and was invited to take part in demonstrations in the Engineering Department, including displays of off-road vehicle.

Informal talks and briefings were also an important part of the day and provided visitors with the opportunity to find out more about Harper Adams new range of degree courses in areas such as Business, IT, Retail, Food, Leisure and Tourism.
